Paul’s Blog – November 16, 2024

On Saturday, November 16, volunteers Dwight Maxey, Bruce Davis, Dannis Hudson, Henry Falko, Doug Milsom, Franco Cerame and Paul Brown got busy moving some equipment around the yard, to get ready for the Christmas events and some activity in January. After getting Engine 104 started, the first move was to put Engine 103 behind the crane, and then head over to the depot tracks to retrieve the Haunted Railcar and our flat, to bring them back to storage in the shop yard for another year. Before shutting down Engine 104, the crew enjoyed a bit of time on our main running track, watching some action on the BNSF and UP tracks. We tied up the consist back at the shop yard and broke for lunch.

Museum member Doug Milsom provided lunch for everyone. He brought in a big pot of home made red chili which was a hit! We may be able to convince him to bring some in for the crew during the Christmas Events! After lunch, it was time to work on a couple of small projects. Bruce got busy working in the C&W caboose on the interior remodel. Franco, Paul and Dwight worked on the number boards on Engine 104 and the lubricator for the bell. There is always something to repair or clean at the Museum.

I have included a few pictures of today’s activity.
