On Saturday, August 30, volunteers Dwight, Colin, Ben and Paul spent a short day working on things to prepare for the next work day Sept 6th. The group worked to place a Draft Gear lift back onto the rails that has been hiding for years under the C&S Caboose, before working to get air jacks and other materials to help raise the C&S Caboose next week for the truck work. The springs on the trucks are in the way of the jacking pad, so another method was devised to lift on the main framework under the car. The group also located some parts for a future track work project.
After a quick lunch break, the crew enjoyed the afternoon while test running the Gang Car after some repairs were made. As usual, the Gang Car had a stubborn moment with some fuel issues, but after that was figured out, the crew burned up the rails test running the car.
I have included a few pictures of today’s major work and the Gang Car running. If you are not able to see the photos, click here to go to our Blog Page.
