On Saturday, September 4, we had a small group come out to the Museum to do some checks and repairs to our track in preparation for next week’s big event. Dwight Maxey, Tyler Seeley, Colin Mellin and Paul Brown headed out to make some adjustments to some areas of our track that had wide gauge and loose bolts. Our first spot had what’s called a dog leg at a joint in a curve. We were able to draw the gauge tight and re-spike the rail to make a smooth joint. Then we did some bolt tightening on our main running track at some areas that were a concern. Lastly we checked on the track in front of Union Depot to make sure it is ready to use for next weekend’s event.
I have included a few pictures of the work crew today.
We will be providing train rides for the Colorado Rail Fair event at the Pueblo Union Depot. For details of next weekend’s Rail Fair, click here.
