Paul’s Blog – October 17, 2026

On Saturday, October 17, volunteers Dwight, Kendall, Reid, Bruce, Ben, Dannis, Jasper, Cole, and Paul fired up Engine 103 and got busy switching equipment around to get things ready for our Halloween event in two weeks. We had to move some freight equipment out of the way and place our haunted railcars in spot at the depot platforms. This was some good practice for some of the crew to get more familiar with train operations and switching cars around that we don’t normally do. When we finished switching equipment, we made a short trip on our main running track to check things out. At the end of the line, we took a few minutes to clear out some weed growth before heading back to the shop and a lunch break.

After lunch, it was time to get the wood stove lifted up and placed into the C&W Caboose in one more step to getting a good stove into that caboose. We finished up the day clearing weeds from the collection area by Union Depot, and doing a couple of small jobs around the shop. There is always something that needs to be taken care of at the Museum!

I have included a few pictures of today’s activities. Check out the engineer who is marking up for the Halloween runs!!
