Paul’s Blog – October 24, 2026

On Saturday, October 24, volunteers Dwight, Colin, Bruce, Ben, Kendall, Dannis, and Paul stayed busy working on several smaller projects. First up, we got the coupler lift cylinder rebuilt for the Trackmobile. So that got installed, and we did some other maintenance to that machine to make sure the hydraulic system is working good. Next we scoured the museum for parts to build out the exhaust for the heating stove that is being installed in the C&W Caboose. Before lunch, we shuffled our speeders around so the gang car was first out and ready for the axle swap.

After a quick lunch break, work continued on the gang car to remove the drive axle so some pieces can be removed for reuse on the replacement axle that will soon go under the car. Now that the Patriot, Engine 102, is out of service for the remainder of the year, we had some time to start checking her over for some possible work. Lastly, we checked out some possible Halloween decorations, getting ready for next Saturday’s event.

I have included a few pictures of today’s work.
