On Saturday, June 25, the Museum had a small crew, consisting of Colin Mellin, Dwight Maxey, Tyler Seeley, Tanner Seeley and Paul Brown, who spent the morning cleaning dirt and debris out of the track structure near our sharp curve, so that we could determine the condition of cross ties near the switch that has been causing us some small problems. After removing several inches of powdery dirt, we determined that there were 10 long switch ties that are in terrible condition and will need to be replaced. Ties in this condition do not support the rails very well, and cause flexibility in the rails around the switch points, which results in the issues we are experiencing. Future work sessions will include replacing these ties after we can determine if we have them in our stock.

After a short lunch break, the crew worked to locate material for the purpose of making additional signs to use during our train ride events. It was determined after our Father’s Day event, that we are lacking in enough signs to place along the streets leading to the Union Depot platform area. Being such a small museum, it is a struggle to do adequate marketing to attract visitors.
